Veterinary Journey
With over 20 years in the veterinary field, Dr. Wilson’s journey began as a kennel technician and veterinary assistant during her undergraduate studies in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, Canada. She later pursued a degree in Veterinary Technology and worked as a registered veterinary technician before advancing to veterinary school. After practicing as a veterinarian, she specialized in small animal clinical nutrition through a residency at UC Davis. The Art of Recipe Formulation
Formulating a recipe is a meticulous process requiring careful planning and testing. The process begins by defining the recipe’s goals, such as species, life stage, or specific health benefits like joint or digestive health. Ingredients are chosen based on nutritional value, consumer preferences, and affordability. Using specialized software, Dr. Wilson creates a pilot recipe tailored to production methods, such as fresh or air-dried options.
The recipe undergoes multiple rounds of testing to ensure it delivers essential nutrients in the proper amounts and ratios. Additional testing evaluates digestibility and palatability, ensuring the recipe provides a nutritious and tasty meal. This rigorous process ensures every product meets high standards before reaching pets. Check out The Pets Table’s Recipes, their ingredients, and their nutritional details here.
“Nutrition and food safety are our highest priorities. That’s why I help to ensure our products are held to the highest industry standards” says Dr. Wilson.
